Join the Great Company: The Noble Work of Publishing the Word of God

Tags: publish the word of God, Bible ministry, King James Bible, noble work, spreading the Gospel, Christian service, ministry calling

“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.”
Psalm 68:11 KJV

Every Christian desires to serve God. We often ask, “Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:6 KJV). The answer is found in the ministry that touches the heart of God—the publishing of His Word. Not just printing Bibles or tracts, but proclaiming, spreading, and testifying the message of truth in whatever way God enables you.

King James Bible - Open and Free

We are living in perilous times where error is shouted from the rooftops and truth is trampled in the streets. Now more than ever, God is looking for men and women who will rise and take their place in the great company that publishes His Word.

I. The Word Comes From the Lord

Psalm 68:11 does not begin with man’s initiative. It begins with divine origin: “The Lord gave the word…” Every preacher, teacher, evangelist, writer, soulwinner, or Gospel worker must remember: we are not spreading man’s thoughts—we are declaring God’s very words.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2 Timothy 3:16 KJV)

We live in a generation that exalts human opinion. But it is not our job to promote ourselves or our philosophies. Our calling is clear: publish what the Lord gave.

From Genesis to Revelation, God’s message is consistent, eternal, and powerful. It convicts the sinner, comforts the saint, and reveals the Savior. And God has preserved that message for us today in the King James Bible.

II. The Ministry of Publishing the Word

What does it mean to "publish" the Word of God?

In Bible times, the word "publish" meant to proclaim, announce, or make known publicly. It was not limited to printing presses or books. It meant to lift up the truth for others to hear, read, and believe.

Today, this ministry takes many forms:

  • Preaching the Gospel in pulpits and streets
  • Distributing tracts in neighborhoods, schools, and offices
  • Supporting Bible printing ministries around the world
  • Sharing Scripture on social media or digital platforms
  • Teaching children in Sunday schools and Bible clubs
  • Sending missionaries and supporting church planters

Every believer can participate in this noble work. You may not be called to preach behind a pulpit, but you are called to be a witness (Acts 1:8 KJV). Even a simple act—like handing a tract to a stranger—could be your part in publishing God’s Word to a soul that needs it most.

III. Great Was the Company

Notice the phrase: “great was the company of those that published it.” This is God’s description of those who labor in His Word. He calls them great. Not because they are famous, wealthy, or influential—but because they are faithful.

The greatness of a person in God’s eyes is measured not by popularity but by obedience to His calling.

“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” (Matthew 23:11 KJV)

Throughout history, God has used countless men and women who were part of this "great company":

  • Moses, who proclaimed God’s law to Israel
  • David, who penned psalms inspired by the Spirit
  • Isaiah, who cried aloud against sin and declared the Savior
  • Paul, who traveled and wrote epistles that still speak today
  • William Tyndale, who died to bring the Bible to the English people
  • Missionaries, like Adoniram Judson and Hudson Taylor, who carried the Word into unreached territories
  • Ordinary believers, mothers and fathers, laborers and students, who shared the Word in their homes, workplaces, and communities

You don’t have to be in history books to be in God’s record. If you are publishing His Word, you are part of the great company.

IV. Why This Ministry Is Noble

The ministry of publishing the Word of God is noble for many reasons:

1. It Honors God’s Command

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15 KJV)

This command is not only for pastors or missionaries—it is for every believer. Publishing the Word is obedience to the Great Commission. If we truly love the Lord, we will obey His call to share His message.

2. It Glorifies Jesus Christ

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…” (John 1:14 KJV)

When we publish the Word, we exalt Christ—the Living Word. Every verse, every truth, every doctrine points to Him. This work is not about promoting ourselves, but lifting up Jesus so all men may be drawn to Him (John 12:32 KJV).

3. It Saves the Lost

“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17 KJV)

No soul is saved without the Word of God. It is the seed (Luke 8:11 KJV), and we are the sowers. The more we publish the Word, the more opportunities the lost have to hear and believe.

4. It Strengthens the Saints

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4 KJV)

Christians grow by feeding on the Word. When we teach, preach, and distribute the Scriptures, we help others grow in grace and truth.

5. It Is Eternal in Impact

All earthly professions will one day cease. But the work of the ministry has eternal rewards.

“And they that be wise shall shine… they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3 KJV)

God will reward every act of faithful publishing, even if no one else sees it.

V. How You Can Join the Work

Maybe you're wondering: "How can I join this ministry?" You don't need a degree or a title. You need a willing heart, a love for God's Word, and a desire to serve. Here are practical ways you can start:

Be a Witness

Share the Gospel with your friends, coworkers, and neighbors. Hand out tracts. Speak kindly about Jesus. Share your testimony.

Support Bible Printing Ministries

Support ministries like:

Your giving can help get King James Bibles into the hands of people around the world.

Use Your Profession

As a CPA, teacher, business owner, or employee—use your career as a platform to promote and support the Word of God.

Teach the Word

Start a small Bible study, Sunday school class, or home devotion. Teaching multiplies truth in others.

Write and Publish

If God has given you a gift for writing, use it. Write articles, devotionals, blog posts, books, or Gospel materials that uplift biblical truth.

Invest in Soulwinning and Missions

Partner with your local church to support evangelism and church planting. Every soul saved is a victory for the Word of God.

Pray for Laborers

The Lord commanded us to pray for workers in the harvest field (Matthew 9:38 KJV). Pray specifically for Bible-preaching ministries and for the spread of His Word.

VI. Encouragement to Keep Going

This work is not easy. You will face discouragement, opposition, and sometimes rejection. But remember:

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void…” (Isaiah 55:11 KJV)

Your labor is not in vain. Even if you never see the results, God sees your faithfulness. He will use every tract you give, every verse you share, every truth you declare—for His glory and for the salvation of souls.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…” (1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV)

You are not alone. You are part of a great company—a divine fellowship of men and women who have answered the call to publish the Word of God.

Final Challenge: Will You Be Counted Among the Great?

The world is filled with voices shouting error. But God is looking for those who will stand and speak truth. Will you be part of the great company? Will you join this noble work?

You may be just one person—but your voice matters, your witness counts, and your obedience pleases God.

Let us rise together. Let us publish the Word with passion, power, and purpose. And may the Lord say of us:

“Great was the company of those that published it.”
Psalm 68:11 KJV
