In the world we live in, very few people wake up one morning and decide to become a thief, a liar, or a criminal. In Song of Solomon 2:15, the Bible says:
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” (KJV)

A businessman may slightly alter the figures in his report. A leader may overlook an unethical favor for political advantage. These little foxes eventually spoil the whole vineyard.

James 1:14-15 warns us:

“Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan... and pitched his tent toward Sodom.” (Genesis 13:11–12, KJV)
He merely looked in that direction. Eventually, he was living in Sodom and suffering its influence. What seemed like a wise business decision ended in disaster.
2. King David’s Idle Evening (2 Samuel 11)
David, the man after God’s own heart, committed adultery and murder — not by waking up with a wicked plan, but by remaining idle at home when kings went to war. A casual glance at Bathsheba turned into lust, sin, and a cover-up that led to death.
One evening of idleness opened the door to devastating consequences.

Proverbs 4:23 tells us:
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (KJV)

The Lord Jesus warned His disciples:
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41, KJV)
Believers are not exempt from falling. Even Peter, who loved Jesus, denied Him three times. And it started with following Him “afar off” (Matthew 26:58, KJV).
